Today, on what would have been a day to celebrate my sister's birthday, I am sharing this blog in honour of her memory, whose life and passing inspired much of my exploration of Heaven. The dream that inspired 'A Momentary Separation' was a gift of hope, showing me a glimpse of her joy in Heaven and profoundly shaping the healing journey I've been on since her passing over four years ago.

I dedicate the Heaven'ian Collection to her, the themes of which are deeply personal, rooted in the hope and comfort I've found through scripture and dreams, which point to the promise of eternity. This collection is my way of celebrating her life and our reunion in Heaven that I look forward to.

The Heaven’ian Collection is an ongoing series of pastel paintings and colored pencil drawings that serve as windows into Heaven’s immense beauty and perfection. Inspired by personal dreams, the Book of Revelation, and reflections on scripture, these artworks explore the world to come—an eternal home for those who choose the way made possible through Jeshua.

This collection is not an imaginative escape into a fantasy world. Rather, it reminds us that there is a multi-dimensional world that awaits us, which is far more real than the temporal world we live in right now. Having such an eternal perspective transforms how we live on Earth, grounding us with purpose and encouraging us to soar by making a greater impact in this life, which will have its rewards in eternity.

What Does it Mean to Be “Heaven’ian”?

The title Heaven’ian signifies my genuine citizenship. Life on Earth is temporary—a brief moment in the scope of eternity. For believers in Jeshua, our real home is in Heaven, and this identity influences how we live each day here.

This concept is grounded in scripture: "...our citizenship is in Heaven" (Philippians 3:20), "for here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come." (Hebrews 13:14) We are "even a vapour that appears for a little time and then vanishes away." (James 4:14) To be Heaven'ian means that "we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal." (2Cor.4:18) When our time on Earth concludes, our spirits return to God, who gave them (Ecclesiastes 12:7). We originated from Him and will return to Him in Heaven, because “... in Him we live and move and have our being.” (Acts 17:28)

The Heaven’ian Collection embodies this eternal citizenship. It’s an affirmation that my life here is temporary, but my identity and purpose reach far beyond this world. This means my perspective is elevated above the earthly plane, "raised with Christ", so that I focus "on things above, not on things on the earth." (Colossians 3:2) because I am seated with Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6).

Themes in the Heaven’ian Collection

This collection explores the possibilities of Heaven within the parameters of scripture. It draws inspiration from personal dreams, visions of the book of Revelation and Ezekiel and others, as well as reflections from scripturally-aligned works like Rebecca Ruter Springer’s My Dream of Heaven.

Key themes include:

1. The Connection Between Heaven and Earth

While my On Earth as It Is in Heaven collection explores this connection from Earth’s perspective, the Heaven’ian Collection reflects it from Heaven’s perspective—how the eternal realm touches our present reality in profound ways. The two worlds are more connected that we know!

2. Encouragement for Life on Earth

Living with an eternal perspective isn’t about escaping this world, but transforming how we engage with it. Knowing our true home is Heaven allows us to live with greater purpose here, making every action meaningful in light of eternity.

3. Hope in Times of Loss

For those who have lost loved ones, these artworks offer comfort. They remind us that, for believers in Jeshua, death is only a temporary separation . The Heaven’ian Collection offers a vision of the joy and restoration that await in the world to come.

Featured Artworks in the Collection

So far, I have completed three pieces in the Heaven’ian Collection, each inspired by a dream:

Smiling woman with excitement on her face, in white robe with purple scarf stands up close, with a group in white robes in the near distance, all facing radiant light. Ethereal atmosphere with soft pastel hues.
A Momentary Separation - United in the Joy that Awaits | Pastel painting depicting my interpretation of a friend's dream of my sister entering eternity alongside others

A Momentary Separation - United in the Joy that Awaits

This piece was inspired by a dream my friend had about my sister entering Heaven. It captures the bittersweet reality of earthly loss, paired with the joyful hope of eternal reunion. The artwork offers comfort to those grieving, reminding them that in Jeshua, death is only a temporary separation, especially considering the brevity of a human life on earth. Working on this piece was a labour of love and brought further healing to me. This piece represents the dispelling of the lie of 'soul sleep', brought to life by the words of Jeshua, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise." (Luke 23:43)

A blue lovebird with outstretched wings soars upward against a pastel-hued sky, blending soft pinks and golds, which move about him, evoking a serene and joyful atmosphere.
Anointing | Mixed media painting depicting how I saw my lovebird Baby 'Ting (aka Anointing) flying to me in Heaven.

Anointing

This artwork reflects a deeply personal dream I had shortly after my first lovebird passed. His beautiful soul had brought me healing "anointing" after the loss of my sister, so losing him was deeply impactful. In the dream, I saw my lovebird flying to me in Heaven, symbolizing the joy and restoration of God’s creation in eternity. This piece acknowledges the infinite knowledge and love God has for all His creation (Acts 15:18), celebrates the loving connection we share with His creatures, and excitedly anticipates our reunion that will find its ultimate fulfillment in Heaven, "...because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God." (Romans 8:21). Truly, "...not one of [His precious creation] is forgotten before God." ( Luke 12:6) The dream transformed my grieving into lasting comfort and joy.

Colorful parrots in a surreal setting with marble columns and checkerboard floor, surrounded by swirling skies. Two scenes of the Water Fountain Spray and Play Room in Heaven, where joyful birds splash and play with Heaven's water: scene on the left third shows highlighted lovebird surrounded by 'friends' perched on marble counter, and blends into a scene in the middle and right showing tiered water fountains and flying birds. Seven larger-than-life lovebirds 'frame' the top and bottom, three along the top and four along the bottom.
Water Fountain Spray & Play Room | Colored pencil drawing depicting two scenes in my dream of a vast "room" in Heaven, where birds of all varieties enjoy playing with Heaven's water. Drawing is "framed" by my three lovebirds who have gone before me (along the top), and four of my six lovebirds who are currently under my care (along the bottom).

Water Fountain Spray & Play Room

Inspired by another vivid dream I had, this piece depicts a room in my heavenly mansion filled with heavenly tiered water fountains, playful lovebirds, and all kinds of joyous birds. I even saw my third lovebird, who had recently passed, enjoying the perfection of Heaven. This piece is a celebration of joy, renewal, and the perfection of God’s creation in eternity, pointing to the words of Jeshua Himself: "Behold, I make all things new..." (Revelation 21:5). It further comforts me to know that God is concerned with every detail of our lives. The dream sparked this artwork and in one night turned my sorrow to eternal joy. This artwork was the catalyst that led me back to pursuing art full-time and thus remains the focus of my sacred space in my art studio, to which I continually look to maintain perspective and strength.

Why This Matters

The Heaven’ian Collection is more than a celebration of Heaven—it’s a call to live fully in the here and now. Far from escapism, this perspective encourages us to live with purpose, knowing that every action on Earth has an eternal impact.

When we live with the “bright end goal” of Heaven in mind, we don’t detach from the world around us; instead, we’re empowered to engage with it more effectively, bringing hope, love, and meaning into every relationship and endeavour.

Each of the works in the Heaven’ian Collection serves as a reminder that the world we currently live in is not our home and in no way is our final destination. For those who follow Jeshua, eternity with Him is our ultimate hope and joy.

Looking Ahead

The Heaven’ian Collection is the first of nine collections I will be introducing over the coming months. Each collection explores different spiritual themes and eternal truths, offering unique perspectives that reflect the beauty and complexity of God’s creation and plan for humanity.

Stay tuned for the next collection in this series: On Earth as It Is in Heaven. This collection will explore the connection between the two worlds of Heaven and Earth from an earthly perspective, delve into how we can bring Heaven to earth, and discover how knowing Him personally and intimately is the very purpose of eternal life, which we have the privilege to live out on earth, pre-Heaven!

Words of Gratitude

For me, creating the Heaven'ian Collection has been a way to process the pain of loss and embrace the hope of eternity. On my sister's earth-birthday, I want to encourage others to reflect on the promise of reunion in Heaven and to live each day with purpose, knowing that our earthly journey is only the beginning of a much greater story.

Thank you for joining me on this journey! I hope these artworks inspire you to reflect on eternity and live with greater purpose today.
