THE PROCESS​
Step 1: Commission Your Portrait
After you've ordered, simply reply to your confirmation-of-purchase email me and attach a high-quality photo of your pet, along with a brief description to capture their unique personality. Feel free to include any special features you'd like to highlight!
Step 2: Progress Updates
Throughout the process, I'll keep you updated with photos of the progress, ensuring the portrait reflects everything you envision.

Step 3: Review and Approve
Before shipping, you'll receive a final photo for approval. If any adjustments are needed, I'll make them for your complete satisfaction.

Step 4: Delivery
Your custom portrait will be carefully packaged with protective materials and shipped to you with tracking and insurance for peace of mind.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE PACKAGE​
Custom Pastel Portrait (3 Sizes Available)
Each portrait is hand-drawn with professional soft pastels on high-quality archival pastelmat. Choose from a range of sizes (see chart below for options and turnaround times).

Mat & Glassine Protection

9x12” portraits: come with a professional 14x18” mat (neutral color to complement your artwork), which fits directly into a ready-made 16x20” frame.

All other larger shipped portraits: arrive un-matted, protected with a glassine sheet to prevent smudging, and secured in an archival plastic sleeve.

Local deliveries (all sizes): include professional matting, sized to fit standard ready-made frames (also see Local Delivery section below).

Note: No fixative is applied to preserve the vibrancy of the pastels, so framing is necessary. Every order includes a PDF guide with tips for framing.

How long does it take to create the portrait?
Typically, it takes about 7 working days to completely finish a 9x12 portrait, depending on my schedule. Please see chart above for more details. Shipping times vary, but you'll receive tracking information once your portrait ships. If your shipping address is located in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia, we will contact you to confirm if you prefer local delivery. In that case, I'll personally hand-deliver your finished portrait!

How can I take a high-quality photo that will ensure the best-looking portrait?
Great question! A high-quality photo makes all the difference in creating a stunning portrait. After purchasing your package, you’ll receive an email from me with detailed tips for capturing the best photo. This guide will help you ensure the lighting, composition, resolution, and focus are perfect to bring out your pet’s unique personality.

Can I order a portrait of more than one pet?
Please see the chart above to see which portrait size is right for you, based on the number of pets you'd like captured in the portrait. If you'd like a multi-pet portrait with more than 3 pets, please reach out to discuss custom pricing. I can be reached at: art@studiogerbrandtart.ca

Can I request changes after the portrait is completed?
Yes, but only minor adjustments and tweaks can be made after the portrait is completed. I will send you a photo of the completed portrait for your approval before shipping. However, please note that requested changes at the time of completion cannot be major, since pastels are built up in layers. Once the portrait has reached completion at the maximum number of layers, no further major changes can logistically be made without compromising the integrity of the piece. Please ensure that you provide clear feedback when reviewing the initial progress photo to avoid needing major adjustments at the final stage.​
