Water Fountain Spray & Play Room

Original colored pencil on paper
19.5 x 25.5"
This colored pencil drawing represents an imperfect sketch of a most perfect dream that was given to me three days after the sudden passing of my lovebird, Chuey. In this vivid dream, my eyes scanned a vast, curved "room" in my heavenly mansion, which to my right was filled with tall, tiered water fountains where birds of all varieties played joyfully in the heavenly water among lush vegetation, playing games and grabbing water with their beaks from vertical "water disks" and squirting each other! A medium-sized bird of deep reds and purples landed on my right arm and looked quizzically up at me! As I admired its beauty, I felt compelled to look to my left, where to my joy, I saw my lovebird Chuey, who was not yet playing in the water, but was perched on a marble counter and surrounded by other lovebirds, enjoying the company of his newfound friends. I instantly knew that I would see him again, in perfect health! These more-real-than-life scenes filled me with immense comfort and turned my grief into eternal joy.
This artwork is "framed" by my three lovebirds who have gone before me to the Water Fountain Spray & Play Room (along the top of the piece), and four of my six lovebirds who are currently under my care (along the bottom of the piece). Although not seen in the dream, I included them in this momentous piece, as a reminder that we will all be enjoying the Water Fountain Spray & Play Room together some day!
This piece is a celebration of joy, renewal, and the perfection of God’s creation in eternity, pointing to the words of Jeshua Himself: "Behold, I make all things new..." (Revelation 21:5). It further comforts me to know that God deeply cares about every detail of our lives, by giving me this precious dream when I needed it the most. He cares about the joy that birds bring to humans—not just for this life, but the joy that He has intended them to bring us for all eternity. Afterall, not one sparrow is forgotten by Him (Luke 12:6) and He knows every creature He has created since the world began (Acts 15:18), each of which will also be liberated from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God (Romans 8:21).
I am so encouraged that He keeps track of all the joys we experience on earth, so that we experience them again, in their perfection, when we step into the world called Heaven.
This dream and artwork were pivotal in reigniting my passion for creating art full-time, symbolizing hope, healing, and the promise of reunion. It was the catalyst that led me back to pursuing art full-time. Fittingly, the original piece is the focus of my sacred space in my art studio, to which I continually look, in order to maintain perspective and strength each day.
